My husband and I stayed here for 5 days in late September-early October 2013. The apartment is wonderful. You do need a basic level of fitness because it is 150 steps from street to apartment door - this helps use up the wine calories. We quite enjoyed the climb. The views over the roof tops from the apartment are lovely - especially the basilica that is lit up at night. The location is very convenient to everything - groceries, restaurants, museums, old town sights, even a health food store within a block for those of us with food allergies.Celiacs take note - I was able to get gluten-free items at this health food store. We walked to everything - the Roman colosseums and basilica, Beaux Arts museum (very close) and the French Resistance museum. The apartment has a comfortable queen-sized bed, a good shower and a very functional kitchen if you want to eat in. Also, it was quiet so we slept well. The washing machine and drying rack were very handy to have and if you need it, there is a self-serve laundry place a few blocks away. The owners live in the building and are so kind and helpful if you need anything. We are recommending this apartment to our friends and family. Stay here - you will be very happy that you did!
We stayed at this apartment for 4 night on a recent trip to France. As mentioned there are a lot of stairs up, but Michael carried our bags for us and the view was worth the climb. The apartment was well equipped and Michael and Julie checked on us during our stay to provide anything we were missing. We also go great local restaurant recommendations. I highly recommend this for your stay if you are well enough to do the stairs. The view, service and cleanliness of the apartment can't be beat!
Perfect location, great hosts
The apartment is cute, freshly renovated and has everything you need (including wifi that works, a real shower - not a bathtub - and air conditioning for those sweltering summer nights). It's very true to the photos. You really couldn't ask for a better location when visiting Lyon - you're a short walk from all the top tourist sites, and well served by many bus lines, plus the area is young and vibrant, and really feels like a neighborhood (vs. a tourist area). Yes, it's up some stairs, but they really aren't that bad, except when hauling overstuffed luggage, which our host Michael very kindly helped us with (both lugging it up AND back down)! One small caution - the apartment is rather small. Fine for two, but I personally think I'd go mad with four people in there. Luckily it is also very fairly priced for two.
This apartment certainly lives up to the photos. For three people (myself, husband and and my mother - yes cosy) the place is adequate in size, with both beds allowing for the best views, especially at night. The apartment is very well positioned, very clean and the self contained aspect was very well thought out by the owners. Michael was lovely and had our 3 suitcases and backpacks up the stairs and in the apartment by the time we had got back from lunch. That was a very nice surprise! Michael was unobtrusive but also very helpful in recommending places to eat, shop etc. as well as organising taxis. Loved Lyon and definitely recommend Les Toits de Lyon.
Great rental for a family of 3 or 4
If everyone in your group is fit to climb 150+ steps, and if sharing 2 double beds works for you, this apartment is a great deal for its quality and location. Sarah
A great stay
Thank you for a great stay and your hospitality. The views are the best, making the stairs irrelevant. The gote and our meanderings around Lyon have been a wonderful finish to our month-long sejourn around Europe. All the best !! Kevin and Esther
A wonderful place !
What a blessuing to start the new year over the roofs of Lyon in your unique and exceptional apartment ! Thank you for your hospitality and congratulations to this wonderful place. It was a great pleasure to visit ! Hildegard
The appartment is very spacious, bright and has air conditioning for those hot summer months, which we found to be rare in France. The views from each of the rooms in this place are truly incredible. You really feel the vibe of the city of Lyon in this apartment and you are above all the rooftops with a great view of the Fourviere Basillica as well. The owners Julie and Mickael were so incredibly, friendly, patient and helpful. They adjusted their time around our schedule. They really know how to equip a guest room with a bit of fancy chocolate, coffee pods for the coffee maker and all the kitchen equipment you need. This is in contrast to a number of apartments we rented elsewhere in France. Mickael was kind enough to carry our heavy suitcases all the way up to the apartment so the stairs were not an issue at all. The appartment is very clean and the area it is located in is super vibrant with lots of restaurants, bars, shopping etc but it is still quiet at night. I want to thank both Julie and Mickael again for their incredibly warm welcome!
